About the project
Grooving Jeans was designed to emulate movement through seamless color blocking. I achieved this seamless look by creating an engineered screen print. The fabric was first dyed using shibori pole tying and clamp resits in an immersion dye bath to create a textural base for the garment. Next, I developed my color palette by mixing different ratios of pigments with opaque silkscreen extenders. After I had perfected my colors, I printed my engineered design on the bolt of precut fabric to avoid a visible bump where the seam of the garment met. I used the registrations from the print to cut my pattern pieces and match the seams, so the design flowed from pattern piece to pattern piece.
