About the project
B Side Wins Again is inspired by the casing of a cassette tape and its susceptibility to water damage. When I was 18 I started going through my dad’s old cassette tape and came upon a cassette of Public Enemy's Fear of a Black Planet. I became obsessed with the album and listened to it almost every day, however, I didn’t understand that cassettes would be ruined if they came in contact with water. I completely ruined the tape but I still kept listening to the distorted tape, specifically B Side Wins Again. To represent the degradation of the cassette tape I ombre-dyed the sleeves and pants with Mx dye. To represent the spokes of the cassette tape I drafted cutouts into the front and back of the jacket and hand-stitched black vinyl circles into the cutout to represent the magnetic tape inside of the case.
